STAFF/STUDENTS

 

SELF DEFENSE CLASS will be held on MONDAY’S, WEDNESDAY’S AND FRIDAY’S from 3-4pm.  This class will help develop your self confidence and give you the ability to protect yourself from dangerous situations.  Come to Room 116.

 

USO GUIDE STUDENTS- We will be meeting in the Gym TODAY, March 11th, at 5:15 for our final meeting and then we will set up our campus for the awesome USO Show.

 

THE MURAL COMMITTEE is now accepting applications for YOUR IDEAS for Murals at Rancho.  Pick up an application from an Art teacher or the Front Office, or Mrs. Lingenfelder in Room 234.   All ideas are welcome!

 

RBV BLOOD DRIVE, sign up in the ASB Room. If you are 17 years old you must have a permission slip.  Come to the Bloodmobile at the Stadium March 18th from 7:30-12:30 pm.

 

LISTEN UP RBV:  The March 2010 Respect the Ranch Podcast is now available on the RBV homepage.  Listen to a choral reading of Mlk”s “I Have a Dream” speech by over 40 RBV Seniors and Freshman.  Our Staff will tell of thoughts on their lives outside of school.  There will be an interview about diversity by Podcast journalist Marissa Scott with club leaders Alyssa Forester, Alejandro Rivers, Dani Andrews and Phoung Nguyen.  Finally enjoy two Lanston Hughes poems by RBV history teacher, Bernice King.  Enjoy and spread the word!

 

GET PUBLISHED IN ARTISTIC Rhapsody 2010.  RBV’s Literary Arts Magazine is now accepting submissions of your original poetry, short prose, art and photography.  Deadline to submit is April 23, 2010.  Send your work to rbvartisticrhapsody@gmail.com   Limit 2 text submissions.  Send art and photography as a jpg file.  Questions?  See Mr. Berger in 803.

 

 

TUTORING/ STUDYING OPPORTUNITIES

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS  in 10th and 11th grade.  Are you struggling in any of your classes? Would you benefit from tutoring?  Come and get help in Room 235 Monday-Thursday from 2:30-4:00.

 

HONORS STUDY HALL is now open in Room 113.  Berkeley grads and CSF tutors are available to help you with your honors classes.  The Study Hall is open Monday-Thursday after school from 2:30-5:00pm and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch.  Get the help you need or utilize the space for your study groups!

 

STUDY ISLAND- prepare for the Language Arts portion of the California High School Exit Exam using Study Island’s Open Computer Lab after school from 2:45-3:45 in Room 217, Monday through Thursday.

 

PROJECT  REACH   New after school program.  We can help with homework and develop life skills.  Come check us out in the Staff Lounge Monday to Friday, 2:30 -5:30.

 

AP/IB NEWS

 

There will be an IB Club Meeting TODAY, Thursday, March 11th in Room 351 at lunch.  BYOL (Bring your own lunch!)

 

Attention students: AP Registration is still being conducted until TODAY, March 11th.  Get signatures from your AP teachers, pay in finance, and then see Mrs. Golly in the IB office.  Don’t miss your chance to take these valuable exams! 

 

 

CLUBS

 

FCA, Come by FCA Friday, March 12th at lunch to hear our very own JV Boys Basketball Coach, Coach Morris share his faith.  There will be Pizza and Drinks for lunch in Room 349.

 

AVID if you ordered an AVID T-Shirt, please pick it up in Room 226 by Friday, March 12th or it may be sold to someone else.

 

CSF Canned Food Drive is on!  Every member needs to bring 5 cans of food to Room 216 by March 19.  Be sure to post what you bring on the sign in sheet.  Let’s make a lot of people happy this spring break!

COLLEGE/CAREER CENTER/ GEAR UP

 

STUDENTS, are you confused about different loans and grants for College?  Bring your parents on March 18th to a workshop on “Funding your College Education” Come and learn how to get free money and loans that are available to you.

 

ATTENTION 10th and 11th Graders, would you like to see the SDSU Campus?  Join Gear Up on this trip Saturday, March 20th.  A buffet lunch will be served.  Stop by the Gear Up Office for a permission slip.

 

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS:  A representative from U.C. Riverside will be here on Wednesday, March 24th at 11am.  If you are interested in attending or want more information about their programs, sign up in the Career Center.

 

ATTENTION JUNIORS!   If you consider yourself a strong leader, participate in clubs and/or ASB, and athlete or have musical/theatrical accomplishments and would like to attend the So California Youth Citizenship Seminar at Pepperdine University, see Mrs. Weethee in the Career Center to be nominated.

 

ATTENTION SENIORS!  If you are planning to attend Mira Costa in the Fall or want to learn more about their programs, sign up in the Career Center to take their Placement Test, on March 19th.

 

CALLING ALL SENIORS!!  You can now pick up the RBV Local Scholarship Application in the Career Center.  All applications are due by March 20th.

 

 

SPORTS

 

BOYS VOLLEYBALL there will be a meeting in Room 246 TODAY, Thursday, March 11th after school at 2:45!  If you are interested in playing Volleyball, please attend this meeting.  You must complete important paperwork BEFORE we see you in the gym!
